I’m Pete Harrison, the Acoustic Engineering Manager at Monitor Audio. I’ve been part of the team for several years now. My role involves working closely with the rest of the engineering and product design teams to ensure that every product we release delivers the sound quality, innovation, and performance that Monitor Audio is known for.
The seventh generation of the Bronze Series features several significant upgrades over its predecessor. One of the biggest changes is the move from a 5-inch to a 6-inch driver, which allows for better sensitivity and improved power handling. We've completely redesigned the suspension and motor systems, both of which help improve linearity and reduce distortion. The tweeter has also been enhanced for lower distortion, and we’ve refined the waveguide to deliver improved directivity. All of this is tied together with an upgraded crossover design, helping to ensure seamless integration between drivers for a more balanced and transparent sound.
Certainly. We’ve implemented a progressive spider in the woofer design, which improves linearity and allows the driver to move more freely and accurately. We've also optimised the surround geometry to maintain symmetrical compliance (Kms), helping ensure consistent performance across a range of volumes. On the tweeter side, we paid special attention to optimising the airflow in the rear cup—this helps reduce unwanted resonances and further improves clarity in the high frequencies.
The new Bronze range delivers a more refined and balanced sound than the previous generation. We’ve toned down the low end to make the bass smoother and more natural—the 5G could sometimes come across as slightly overblown in that area. The tweeter’s improved waveguide offers wide directivity, meaning the soundstage is more expansive and less dependent on perfect placement in the room. The crossover has been engineered with a transparent design philosophy, resulting in an even tonal balance across the frequency range. We’ve also taken care to ensure the centre speaker really pushes vocal clarity, and the on-wall models have been optimised specifically for wall-mounted use.
There is a range of great configurations depending on your room and setup preferences. For a simple stereo system, something like the Bronze 50s makes a great left and right pair. For a home cinema setup, the Bronze 300s combined with the centre speaker make for a strong LCR foundation. In a full 5.1 system, we’d suggest the 300s, Centre, and On-Wall speakers, paired with our Vestra W12 subwoofer to deliver deep and controlled bass. If you’re looking to add height channels for a more immersive experience, a 5.1.2 system including AMS Dolby Atmos speakers rounds out the package brilliantly.
We’re seeing a move towards simplification. Our customers want clear, easy-to-understand product options that still deliver exceptional performance. With Bronze 7G, we’ve streamlined the range so it’s easier for users to choose the right configuration for their needs. At the same time, we’ve worked hard to optimise the core components, like the driver motor and suspension systems, to achieve the best possible performance at a competitive price point. Flexibility is also key; the Bronze Series 7G offers something to suit different living spaces and lifestyles.
If you’re building or upgrading a home cinema system and want a truly immersive experience, adding Dolby Atmos AMS speakers is a fantastic way to achieve that. They provide height channels that help recreate overhead effects and deliver a three-dimensional sound field, which is particularly effective for film and gaming. It’s the next step in creating a more enveloping, cinematic audio environment in the home.
