I'm Emily, one of the senior product designers at MAG. I lead the design and development of products from initial concept and engineering all the way through to production.
We have made numerous improvements aimed at enhancing performance and build quality. One of the most significant upgrades is the introduction of an 18mm thick plywood baffle, which increases cabinet rigidity and strength, resulting in reduced resonance and improved acoustic clarity. Bronze 7G also features more robust outrigger feet, evolved from the design used in the Silver Series 7G. These feet provide greater stability and help to minimise unwanted vibrations, contributing to a cleaner, more accurate sound.
The range has been streamlined to five models: a bookshelf, floor stand, center, on-wall, and Atmos, with all but the Atmos using a 6-inch driver. The naming has been updated to reflect this change and to align with other ranges in the Monitor Audio portfolio, helping to create a more consistent and straightforward buying experience for the customer.
The design remains recognisably Bronze, but we have carefully refined the details to elevate its visual appeal. One of our main goals was to make the tweeter a focal point of the design, giving it a jewel-like quality. To achieve this, we designed an etched aluminium grille that fits seamlessly over the tweeter dome, featuring a hexagonal pattern inspired by Hyphn. This is an elegant reference point for our entry-level speaker. Additionally, the exposed plywood edge on the baffle introduces a new level of craftsmanship and detail not previously seen in the Bronze series.
Entry-level loudspeaker design is evolving to offer more premium aesthetics and materials at accessible price points. Consumers now expect refined finishes and design cues typically found in higher-end models. Bronze reflects this trend with its elevated look and affordability.
It is the overall package that makes Bronze 7G a perfect entry point. It combines impressive performance with a luxurious look at an affordable price, making it both accessible and appealing to those entering the world of high-fidelity audio.
The Vestra subwoofers are a great addition to a Bronze 7G setup, offering competitive price points and finishes that align with the range. Similarly, Stax 2G pairs beautifully with Bronze, thanks to the shared finishes and colour combinations. I am particularly a fan of the Satin White and Natural Plywood combination.
