Job Title: Senior Product Designer
I was originally drawn to Monitor Audio because it offered the perfect intersection of my two worlds, industrial design and music. Having grown up studying multiple instruments and later moving into industrial design, I wanted to work somewhere that understood sound not just technically, but emotionally. Monitor Audio had that balance.
What has kept me here is the culture of craftsmanship, curiosity, and genuine respect for the design process. There is a shared passion for getting the details right, whether it is a material choice, a tonal characteristic, or a manufacturing approach shaped by my experience working in China. It is rare to find a team that pushes for excellence while remaining collaborative and human.
The project I am most proud of contributing to is Studio 89. It was a rare opportunity to balance heritage and modern design thinking, bringing together everything I value in audio product development. I was able to draw on my design training and my musical background to help shape a product that felt both beautifully engineered and musically expressive. Working closely with the acoustics team was especially rewarding, as the collaboration between design and engineering played a crucial role in refining the form and ensuring the performance reached its full potential. Seeing the Studio 89 progress from initial concepts to a finished loudspeaker and hearing it come to life for the first time was genuinely unforgettable.
I started out as a graduate designer, focusing mainly on supporting the team and learning the company’s design language. Over the years, I’ve worked my way up to Senior Industrial Designer, taking on far more responsibility and creative ownership. I now lead projects, including Climate 3G, guiding everything from early concept development through to final production. The progression has allowed me to grow not only as a designer but also as a mentor and a key link between design, engineering, and manufacturing.
A valuable lesson I’ve learnt is that the best products come from balancing patience with collaboration. Great design isn’t just about the first idea that lands on paper but about refining, questioning, and improving it through open dialogue with the wider team. Working closely with engineering, acoustics, and manufacturing has shown me how much stronger an idea becomes when different perspectives shape it. Embracing that process has been key to creating work we can all be proud of.
I would tell myself, “Trust your instincts, ask more questions, and don’t be afraid to push for the idea you believe in.” When you are new, especially in a company with so much heritage, it is easy to stay quiet. But bringing a fresh perspective is part of the reason you are there.
Resonant.
Because the work, the people, and the journey have all echoed through my personal and professional growth in a way that will stay with me for a long time.
