Whilst not a fan of the gloss black finish, John Darko loves everything else about Studio 89.
Discussing performance, expert reviewer John Darko put together a playlist, curated solely for this Studio 89 review, and whilst listening to Fluids in Motion by Forest Drive West, John said the sound of the Studio 89’s was “polished, and they also sound lively, demonstrating, I think, superb control of this songs tight rhythmic structure”.
Listening to The Beatles Tomorrow Never Knows, John stated that “it sounds meticulously organised”, adding “you can also hear the AMT’s abundant delicacy, finesse and clarity in the synth sparkles that swing from left to right in S.A.L.T., by The Orb."
John commented that the Studio 89's were "a much more attractive loudspeaker" compared to the Golden Ear BRX and when comparing the two-way Studio 89's against the three-way KEF R3 Meta, John said "I think the Monitor Audio is the slightly better of the two in coping with the densely layered complexities of Radiohead's Pearly".
