What Now - Following her debut album, American musician Brittany Howard introduces What Now. Inspired by Songs in the Key of Life by Stevie Wonder, Howard found herself slowly putting together her second solo album during the pandemic. Howard said “at the time, I didn’t know I was writing an album. I just needed an outlet and I just needed a way to get all these feelings out”. A true virtuoso, Howard wonderfully traverses genres, with a mix of soul, R&B, and metal. Utterly joyful, Howard dazzles and doesn’t put a foot wrong.

Dark Matter - Veteran rockers Pearl Jam introduce the ambitious Dark Matter, their 12th studio album. The album title refers to the hypothetical cosmic webbing holding the universe together, and it’s clear that the band have made a calculated return to their earlier, heavier work. An accumulation of sounds from each of the previous records in their deep catalogue, with gritty grunge, scratchy guitar riffs and sharp production, the band showcase their unbreakable chemistry. Evolutionary and explosive, fans may debate this, but surprising as it is - this could well be one of their best albums to date.

Brat - Brat is the sixth studio album by English singer Charli XCX. With influences from the likes of Avril Lavigne, Rihanna and Siouxsie Sioux, Brat uses a wide range of styles from electropop, club-pop, electroclash, and dance. The album's pop sound draws on both the illegal London rave scene of her teenage years and her more recent experimental releases, and balances an aggressive, confrontational and brash attitude with moments of vulnerability. A record which will be getting heavy rotation this summer. It's cool, blunt and full of swagger and flair - its a masterpiece. Charlie XCX has produced the pop album of the year.

Charm - Charm is the enchanting third studio album by American singer-songwriter Clairo. Clairo produced the album alongside Leon Michels with influences from the likes of Al Green and the Cocteau Twins. Talking about the albums title, Clairo said “I came to the conclusion that, to me, charm is the moment when two people meet, and they have separate life experiences, all their own stories and feelings, and then they tell each other the first layer.” Instrumentally and vocally impressive, Charm is unique and at times psychedelic, with a beautifully gentle tone throughout.

Romance - Romance is the fourth studio album by Irish rock band Fontaines D.C. Influences on the record are found in the form of cinema and when discussing the creative leap taken on Romance, lead singer and lyricist Grian Chatten explained “We always think that we’re pushing the boat out, or taking some new turn, with each record, and I think probably the reality is that it was a lot less of a turn than we thought. But this time, I feel good about it being a full turn.” Four albums in five years is some achievement and as they continue to push the boundaries with a renewed creative spirit, its evident they have a lot more to offer.
