Monitor Audio released the Series 80 range which comprised of 8 speakers – MA2, MA84, MA6 Series II, MA16, MA9, MA10X, Mini Monitor and Baby Monitor BM100.

These speakers aimed to produce low colouration, extended low frequency response and high power handling. The MA6 Series II and MA9 were standmount / bookshelf speakers that were very competitive in the market at the time for speakers of that size. The Mini Monitor featured modest power handling at 50 watts and advanced 12-element crossover network with close tolerance components. The MA2 was the domestic reference high efficiency model featuring advanced 18 element cross over with equalisation and high power handling up to 120 watts. The MA84 featured advanced 16 element cross over network with a low resonance reinforced enclosure.
