This week, Matt Miller, our Media Designer, shares his favourite album of the week - ‘Ruins' by First Aid Kit.
"Summer seems to have came and gone in the UK. Weeks of sunshine and hot weather have now turned chilly and wet for the foreseeable future. As much as I like baking in the heat, there’s nothing better to me than laying on the sofa, with a cup of coffee, a great album playing and rain pouring in the background.
‘Ruins’ really is one of those albums that you can close your eyes and escape into. It’s eclectic mix of classic Americana, country and folk with sky-high harmonies draws you into a story of heartbreak and moving on. ‘Rebel Heart’ (the album’s opening song) is the perfect opening scene to the album creating a cinematic atmosphere. Other highlights from the album is the emotional track ’Fireworks’, dreamlike ’Distant Star’ and defiant ‘Hem of Her Dress’."
