Monitor Audio is proud to announce a creative partnership with renowned electronic music pioneer, Martyn Ware. The ‘Adventures in the Electroverse’ exhibition is a fully immersive, multi-sensory art and sound installation, curated and presented at the NYC Culture Club, the Oculus, World Trade Center. There will be an exclusive premiere on the 4th May, followed by free public entry from the 5th May to the 1st June.
Adventures in the Electroverse is the physical manifestation of 'Electronically Yours with Martyn Ware’, the podcast in which he reconnects with artists of music, art, film, comedy TV and creativity, that he's met over the course of his forty-three-year career.
Combining Martyn’s love of oral history and 3D soundscape experiences, Advertures in the Electroverse utilises content reimagined from his successful podcast and played back through Monitor Audio’s SoundFrame on-wall speakers adorned with portraits of those that joined him on his podcast.
Launched back in 2020, ‘Electronically Yours with Martyn Ware’ boasts almost 200 hundred in-depth interviews with artists such as Nick ‘Peanut’ Baines; keyboardist of indie rock band, Kaiser Chiefs to American record producer and guitarist Nile Rodgers.
Uncovering unheard stories and behind the scenes point of views, Martyn discusses of some of the biggest hits that have shaped popular music culture as we know it.
Born in Sheffield, Martyn Ware started his music career forming the English synth-pop band, The human League. In 1980 Ware and Human League band mate formed publishing company, ‘British Electric Foundation (B.E.F)’ and Heaven 17, New wave, electro-pop band who took the Electronic scene with hits such as ‘Temptation; and ‘Let me go’.
Outside of his position in a multi-million record selling band, Martyn is a visiting professor at Queen Mary College, University of London. He also has an honorary Doctorate of Music at the University of Sheffield and the University of London.
Continuing with what he loves Martyn still performs, produces and is working on his autobiography.
Supporting the creative identity for the exhibition is Norman Hathaway, the Brooklyn based creative director and art historian. Norman has built his career serving a diverse range of clients across Europe and the US. From renowned figures in music and fashion to esteemed publishers and cultural institutions, Hathaway has left his mark with engaging and accessible work.
His creations reflect a fusion of profound design expertise and a distinctive wit and charm. Proficient in both print and digital mediums, he boasts an impressive collection of international accolades, including recognition from esteemed institutions such as the New York Art Directors Club and D&AD.
In addition to his professional achievements, Hathaway has shared his knowledge and insights as an educator at prestigious institutions like The Royal College of Art, Central St. Martins, Goldsmiths College, and The London College of Printing. He is also celebrated as the author of notable works such as "Overspray" and "Electrical Banana."
