We spoke to Instagram follower @thebrownbandit about his audio equipment, record collection and his favourite album

When did you start collecting records?

I live in Toronto, Canada and I suppose I started collected LP’s when I was 10. Off to Dufferin Mall, went my 10-year-old self and proceeded to purchase David Bowie “Let’s Dance” as well ass Grand Master Flash And The Furious Five “The Message”.

What's your favourite record?

Currently my favourite and go to album is “Fragile” by Yes. This has constantly changed over the years and will most likely continue to do so. Other mentions would be D’Angelo “Voodoo”, Beck “Morning Phase”, John Coltrane “Blue Train”, to name a few!

Who are your favourite band?

Favourite band is a tough one, but I always seem to go back to The Police. Nostalgia, musicianship, Much Music/MTV, great recordings, connecting with the lyrics, all have something to do with my choice.

What's your favourite music-based magazine?

Grew up reading, looking at and dreaming about the Hi-Fi systems in Stereophile as well as plastering pictures of setups all over my bedroom walls as a teen. I am still an avid reader of the magazine and look forward to every issue!
