For the game industry, 2021 was full of disruptions, as consoles became almost impossible to get our hands on, countless games being pushed to 2022 and events going virtual. Well, with the trend of cloud gaming services, subscription gaming is about to get extremely competitive, with Netflix entering the market alongside the industry majors. Dying Light 2

The zombie shooting, parkour free running game finally receives a long awaited sequel this year. Taking place in an open-world city, some four times the size of the original game’s map, Dying Light 2 will have you scavenging, exposing and zombie killing on your own or with up to four friends in co-op.

 

Elden Ring

Hidetaka Miyazaki collaborates with fantasy novelist George R. R. Martin for this role-playing game, which takes place in the realm of the Lands Between. In an open-world setting, you will need travel to castles, fortresses, and catacombs with the aim of restoring the Elden Ring to become the Elden Lord.

 

The Day Before

In this deadly open-world MMO survival from FNTASTIC, set in post-pandemic America, you wake up alone in a world you no longer remember, setting out to find answers. As you scavenge for resources to survive, you must navigate dark abandoned buildings, and busy streets, avoiding flesh-hungry infected and survivors killing each other for food, weapons, and cars.

 

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2

The sequel to the best Nintendo Switch game and possibly one of the best games of all time is due to arrive this year, after being teased in 2019. We can’t wait to get back to Hyrule to help solve the kingdom's latest mystery. With the original’s go anywhere, do anything attitude to gameplay, alongside its stunning art style and gorgeous music, let’s hope the sequel lives up to the first game’s prestige.

 

Starfield

In a space-themed world, Bethesda introduce us to a new, next-generation experience, as you control a member of Constellation, an organisation of space explorers. Although we are yet to see gameplay, we know the game is set in the year 2310, and will have the player exploring The Settled Systems, an area that extends outward from the Solar System for approximately 50 light-years.

 

Hogwarts Legacy

Set in the late 1800s in the Wizarding World, Harry Potter fans will rejoice at the thought of exploring Hogwarts, in this open-world action RPG. Be the center of your own adventure, as you master Ancient Magic, battle foul Dementors, dark wizards and gigantic dragons using the powerful Abraxan.

 

God of War: Ragnarök

The follow up to the wildly successful God of War reboot in 2018, the game will be set in Norway, featuring Kratos and his son Atreus. The story is expected to be set around the initiation of Ragnarök, a series of events that brings the end of the world.

From independent studio Jumpship, on their debut game, comes a Sci-Fi adventure, which takes some inspiration from puzzle-platform Limbo. In the wake of a post-apocalyptic event on Earth, you must guide a family to safety to avoid a devastating alien attack.

 

Horizon Forbidden West

Forbidden West continues the story of Aloy, a young hunter in a world where robotic creatures have taken over the world. The sequel to the original 2017 game takes place across a post-apocalyptic western America, as Aloy aims to find the source of a mysterious plague that kills all it infects.

 

Lord of the Rings: Gollum
