With most of us now having to stay home, we have started our new ‘Album of the Week’ series.

This week, Delphine, one of our International Account Managers, starts with her favourite album of the week - U.F.O.F. by Big Thief.

"Lockdown can mean anxiety and stress to many, what better way to change your mind and chill out than listening to Big Thief’s deliciously relaxing and spellbinding album U.F.O.F.?

Lead vocalist Adrianne Lenker’s voice will please kids and adults alike and bring joy and harmony into your home!"

If a child can quietly sit and listen through the entire album, we know any parent would be happy. Anything that pleases the entire family is a winning album.

About the band

All four members of Big Thief (Adrianne Lenker (guitar, vocals), Buck Meek (guitar, backing vocals), Max Oleartchik (bass), and James Krivchenia (drums)) - attended the Berklee College of Music, but only formed a group after each had graduated.

The band formed in 2015, and have released four albums, two through Saddle Creek Records and the other two through 4AD.

About the album

U.F.O.F. is the third studio album by the American indie rock band Big Thief, released through British independent record label 4AD in 2019.

According to lyrics in the title track, the initials stand for "UFO friend”.

“Making friends with the unknown… All my songs are about this,” says Lenker; “If the nature of life is change and impermanence, I’d rather be uncomfortably awake in that truth than lost in denial.”

The album was nominated for Best Alternative Music Album at the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards. The album received favourable reviews by The IndependentThe Guardian and Rolling Stone, with the latter expressing "mostly you can hear the transcendence of Big Thief as they grapple with characters who come and go, not knowing if they will ever be back, bravely embracing death, and revealing a vulnerability that becomes their biggest strength.”
