Job description

Monitor Audio Group is looking for a Manufacturing Production Engineer to join their diverse team and help deliver high end audio and electronics products to market.

Based at our Head Office in Rayleigh, Essex, the successful applicant will help bring exciting new products to fruition, as well as supporting our current range of products, by applying industry standard LEAN manufacturing processes.

Reporting to the Quality Manager, the Manufacturing Production Engineer will proactively seek out improvements and optimisations in all areas of the manufacturing environment.

Main Responsibilities

  • Identify manufacturing requirements for new products in development
  • Design and specify new systems, processes and tools to ensure cost effective integration of new products into current manufacturing operations
  • Assist with manufacturing area layout, including production cell design, using Lean manufacturing best practices
  • Design fixtures, jigs and tooling for manufacturing tasks to ensure efficiency, consistency and error proofing
  • Generating and maintaining assembly instructions for products
  • Generate and set up Part Numbers and SAP Codes
  • Set up and maintain production Bill of Materials
  • Carry out FMEA’s in collaboration with the Industrial Design team
  • Improve manufacturing efficiency and variability by analysing, planning and optimising workflow, areas and equipment
  • Remove waste from manufacturing processes using Lean methodologies
  • Plan and organise regular, preventative and reactive maintenance of production equipment
  • Investigate production and process issues providing technical support and coaching
  • Undertake special projects as required
  • Investigate and determine root causes, deriving resolutions using industry standard tools such as 8D, 5 Why’s, Ishikawa
  • Lead and support continuous improvement, problem solving and process improvement activities

 

Skills / Experience / Knowledge

-- Essential:

  • Relevant Manufacturing/Engineering Degree or equivalent previous work experience
  • Experience working in a volume manufacturing environment
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design/engineering principles and how to apply them
  • Clear understanding of technical drawings
  • Ability to plan and prioritise activities dynamically
  • Demonstrable problem solving abilities

-- Desirable:

  • Experience with SAP or other comparable ERP system
  • Knowledge of Autodesk Inventor or similar CAD systems
  • Previous experience coaching/training other staff
  • 6-Sigma Green Belt or higher
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 or equivalent QMS Systems, especially Change Control Processes
